GOTTFRIED of STRASBOURG - [ ? - 1210]

He was the "Minnesänger" from Strasbourg. His masterpiece is a poem entitled : Tristan and Isolde, written in old medieval German which contains more than 20 000 verses. It drawsits inspiration from the traditions of the Round Table. Then it was gently completed by Ulric de Turheim, Henri of Freiberg and several others. The best edition of Gottfried 's work is that of Breslau, a two volumes publication from 1823.
